Website footer
For our personal website, I've been placed in charge of designing the footer. I've taken some inspiration from other websites. And based on what I've seen, I started designing. Most footers follow the same 4 column principle. With this in mind I started designing a few different versions of a footer.
I've made these 5 versions of a footer and asked for feedback about them with my group but also with Frank (S2 teacher). And the feedback I got was as follows:
“I met up with Frank to ask for feedback for my footer designs. I showed 5 different versions to him. One where the background is the same as the background of the website itself, one where it is different, one white one, one where it's a combination of the two and a “baby powder” white one. Frank's feedback was that when you look at a footer on different websites that they stand out and do not include the same background color. Frank indicated to compare the footer I created with what can be found online. I was also tipped to only use the social media icons that are used by us as a company. In the end, all footers are good and he could not say that if you use a specific footer that the design would not work at all.”With this feedback in mind, I made some improvements and iterations to the 2nd footer.
At first I only added the white bar at the bottom and placed a blue background behind it to make it one solid section. After comparing it to the feedback I got I remembered the tip about the social media icons and got the following version.
I removed two social media icons that we won't use (Behance and Dribbble). I also changed the about us section a bit to contain our logo and mission as the about us text (This to replace the placeholder text that was there before).
After changing it all to this the footer was good and I started using it in the Figma files which can be found at LO1 / DOT website Figma.
