Expert interview
To validate our thoughts, we wanted to do an interview with one of the experts at Fontys.
The question we asked was: "What are the possible effects of media made by AI on ethics, quality and culture, and how do they affect the way people experience media"
1. Do you see AI generated media as something positive or negative?
Sees it as potentially dangerous though, people do not know what is real and what is not. Fake news on tik tok. Not necessarily against banning (don't think it can be done either).2. Would you say that human-made media is more creative than media made by an AI?
Surely humans are more creative, not necessarily better. AI remains a repeat for what happens all the time. Humans are more original.3. What are, in your professional opinion, the possible consequences of the over use and dependence on AI generated media.
You don't know if something is real or not, you can hardly verify if something was really said or made by humans. Can easily convey false intent with deepfake and AI.4. What do you think the world would look like if only AI generated media existed.
Busy. I have to think of minority report (a movie where AI suggests who is going to commit a crime before it happens). Ads will automatically adjust to your needs when you get close. I would think AI will get better but it won't be a future we would want.5. Does media created by AI take away the culture factor?
I think it does. ChatCPT learns from everything it sees. I think thanks to this cultures can become one giant blend and lose their own identity.6. Do you agree or disagree with this statement? "New media created by AI takes out the humanity and reduces the creative and emotional aspects, reducing the quality and meaning of media."
Agreed, even I think AI can create a new art direction but it does take the emotional aspect out of the work. We have to view it as a separate form of art.7. Do you agree or disagree with this statement? "AI made media lacks a piece of soul that makes people feel nothing when they look at it"
Agree that it lacks soul but think people can still feel things about it, mainly as a wow factor. Conclusion
After talking with the expert the conclusion we got to was that AI should be used as a helping hand when creating art and not as a replacement.
